How it works
Dividing an amount into equal shares almost always leaves cents over or missing once rounded. Largest remainder allocation hands those leftover cents to the shares with the highest decimal part, so the total comes out exact.
Frequently asked questions
Why do my shares not add up to the total?
Because each share was rounded separately. Split €100 three ways and €33.33 × 3 gives €99.99. The missing cent has to go to one of the shares, which the tool does for you.
Should I split the net or the gross amount?
Split whichever amount you have to justify. For a shared expense claim, the gross; for an accounting breakdown, the net, with tax recalculated on each share afterwards.
